Position Summary

The Harbor Entertainment Design Intern is responsible for supporting all creative efforts
surrounding event, exhibits and specialty builds. This candidate should be interested in
various aspects of design and enjoy seeing a project from ideation to completion. Harbor is a
small team that works quickly and covers a broad range of tasks to execute on the big
picture. The Design Intern should have an entrepreneurial spirit, be open to learning quickly
on their feet, and be excited to jump in on any task that needs assistance. Some knowledge
of production, event planning, or a performance background is a plus, but not necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Design assistant to the Creative Director of Harbor
• Adhere to design procedures set forth by the Creative Director
• Utilize the design concepts and work with the Creative Director to help execute new
exhibit builds and/ or event materials. This may include:
o research and brainstorming
o creating build plans
o creating production files for CNC or print shop equipment
o graphic design
o hands on building in the shop

• Coordinate with Creative Director and Shop & Warehouse Manager on project
timeline for related projects
• Help to research and price out materials
• Create prototypes and models
• Refine skills to efficiently work in Sketchup & Adobe Suite. Additional programs may
include Fusion 360, Vray Render, and VCarve
• Adhere to shop rules:
o Maintain a clean and organized workshop at all times
o All tools put up at the end of each day
o Making sure tools and shop are secured, locked and powered down at the end
of each day
o Weekly sweeping and dust collection
o Notify superiors if a piece of equipment needs repair or a part replaced.
o Ensuring all stored items are properly returned to the location they were

• Maintain shop safety as set forth by Shop & Warehouse Manager
• Travel to event sites during internship and assist with install and run of show
• Track and organize all expenses as related to the projects you are working
• All other duties as necessary
o The need to be a general “runner” and or assistant will arise, especially when
on event site. Keeping a positive attitude and knowing you are working
towards the goal of seeing a project complete is imperative.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements

Good physical strength and stamina
• Able to lift 50lbs
• Able to work extended hours when required
